About
Hi there - I'm Lindsay, and I develop web pages in my spare time ... outside of my work as a software architect and developer for Trimble Navigation Ltd, an multinational company that (in my division) manufactures precision equipment for surveying, construction, monitoring of land and crustal movement, and cool stuff like that.
The TideSpy site is a nice diversion from my daily work, and it links me with the users that I see so little of in my day job. If you're wondering why this blog is entitled "Zoot's TideSpy blog", it's because my usual online nickname is zoot_allures, a name that comes from a guitar instrumental by Frank Zappa, whose wonderful and whacky music I have developed a ravenous appetite for. He's a prolific bloke; I've collected about 70 of the hundred or so CDs he's produced. Sadly, the man has shuffled off this mortal coil, but his music lives on - especially in my living room. I'm a resident of New Zealand (Here in the TideSpy map), a beautiful little country in the South Pacific. Actually, it's not so little. We have only 4 million people here, but if you were to lay this country across Europe, it would stretch from Morocco in North Africa, all the way up to Belgium. It just looks little because we're adjacent to two very big things - Australia and the Pacific Ocean. On the other hand, it ain't big.
